FR_Le projet consiste en la rénovation et l’extension arrière d’une maison unifamiliale située à Wépion, afin d’agrandir la cuisine et la salle à manger et d’améliorer leur relation au paysage. L’intervention prolonge la façade existante de 1,50?m pour offrir des espaces de vie plus généreux, aujourd’hui limités par de petites ouvertures et une impression d’enfermement. L’extension s’ouvre largement vers la prairie et le bois en contrebas, renforçant la connexion visuelle avec le site naturel. Le parti architectural privilégie une intégration douce : le bardage bois existant est conservé et réemployé autant que possible pour préserver la patine et l’identité de la maison. La nouvelle fenestration est pensée comme un jeu de cadrages sur le paysage, apportant lumière, profondeur et qualité d’usage. L’intervention reste volontairement mesurée, respectant les volumes d’origine tout en améliorant le confort spatial et la qualité de vie. L’ensemble compose une rénovation discrète, chaleureuse et cohérente, qui valorise le caractère rural du lieu et renforce l’ouverture de la maison sur son environnement naturel.
EN_The project involves renovating and extending the rear façade of a single?family home in Wépion, with the aim of enlarging the kitchen and dining area by extending the existing rear projection. The intervention realigns the back façade to create more generous, comfortable living spaces, replacing the current small openings that give a sense of confinement. The extension opens directly onto the surrounding prairie and woodland, strengthening the visual and spatial connection with the natural landscape.
The architectural approach focuses on preserving the character of the existing house: the current timber cladding is maintained and reused wherever possible to retain its authentic patina. The new design introduces a refined composition of openings that frames the landscape and enhances natural light throughout the living areas. The project remains deliberately modest in scale, respecting the original volumes while significantly improving spatial quality and daily comfort.Overall, the renovation creates a warm, coherent and discreet extension that reinforces the home’s relationship with its rural environment and elevates the quality of life inside.
